Site Visits

What is one of the most unique benefits of being a Social Justice Fund member? You get the chance to visit with prospective grantees and learn first-hand about their work. Site visits are crucial to our democratic grants process and give you a chance to meet other Social Justice Fund members while you explore social change in the Northwest.

Site visits are happening in March and April for our 2008 Three-Year Grants--- we will award two grants of $45,000 and two grants of $65,000. So far, the committee has identified seven fantastic finalist groups across the Northwest doing important community organizing work, and will select the four final grantees from this group. How will the committee make such a tough call? Site visits will be crucial as the committee makes final funding decisions.

Things to know about site visits:

  • All members are welcome to attend site visits.
  • There will always be a member of the grantmaking committee and a staff member with you.
  • Social Justice Fund reimburses members’ travel expenses to make these visits accessible to as many members as possible.
  • The biggest need for people is in June during our Basic Grant cycle, when we visit dozens of organizations throughout the Northwest.
