Donating to and volunteering your time to support social justice are important actions you can take to help strengthen the voices of disenfranchised communities to promote a more just society. We have developed a number of resources about socially responsible investment which are now available on our website.

The Social Justice Fund NW community has lost a dear friend. After successfully battling breast cancer and lymphoma, Connie Pious succumbed on January 20th, 2006 of a third cancer of unknown origin. She was 74 years old. Connie joined the Social Justice Fund NW (then A Territory Resource) in 1994 and quickly became one of our most active volunteers, serving on many committees.

On a rainy Saturday on January 7th, 15 enthusiastic members of the Basic, Three-Year, Cultural, and Technical Assistance grants committees attended a day-long training at the Yesler Community Center in Seattle. The event was designed to review the Social Justice Fund NW's grantmaking strategy, to inform the committee members about progressive organizing in our region, and to practice evaluating sample grant proposals.

The Social Justice Fund NW received a very generous grant of $470,000 over two years from the Kellogg Foundation to advance building leadership in philanthropy in communities of color. To better achieve these goals, we are undergoing some staffing changes.
