LenoOn Monday, we will celebrate the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This holiday is an opportunity to reflect on the power of political organizing. While we should be grateful for all that past generations have achieved, we must recognize that we remain confronted with both old and new challenges. When Dr. King went to Memphis in 1968 to support the sanitation workers’ strike, he was participating in the same fight for economic justice that we find ourselves in today.

Over the next few weeks, Social Justice Fund will be hosting a series of gatherings to update our members on our Civic Action Initiative, and to ask our members to help us look into the next year: What can Social Justice Fund do to develop your own philanthropy?
Social Justice Fund would also like for you to join us in Portland, OR for a donor briefing and update on Western States Center'sVOTE program and SJF's Civic Action initiative. This will be a great opportunity to hear about the work that is happening with your support, meet other SJF members and chat with the 2009 Civic Action grantees.
